In Awadh, the best foods were rich and royal cooks took special pride not only in the taste and texture of their creations, but in their ability to astound and amaze their patrons. Even though these culinary extravagances have gone the way of the Awadhi court itself, the spirit of that extravagance, the civility, graciousness and much of that remarkable cuisine still remain.
