A Feel for Flamenco!
A presentation by Punita Singh
An emotive blend of song, rhythm and dance, Flamenco has evolved from being an expression of existential angst in the crucible of southern Spain to becoming a major genre of art and entertainment performed across the world. Declared an ‘intangible cultural heritage of humanity’ by the United Nations, Flamenco has antecedents in India through the Gypsy trail. The journey of Flamenco through space and time will be explored in this presentation by Punita and its syncopated rhythms, modal melodies, soulful songs and evocative dances illustrated via audio and video media
Punita Singh is a musicologist, linguist, acoustician, editor and educator based in New Delhi
