13TH IAWRT ASIAN WOMEN’S FILM FESTIVAL: 2ND TO 4TH MARCH 2017
The 13th edition of the festival will show case the work of women filmmakers of Asian origin, living anywhere in the world. The festival brings together a collection of films and sound works, that cut across genres and have narratives that can reshape the way we imagine cinema to be. The festival includes a selection of fifty-six films and five sound works from 17 countries - Jordan, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Israel, India, Palestine, Thailand, Pakistan, Japan, Singapore, Korea, Spain, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, UK, Cameroon, Philippines, USA, Bangladesh, Turkey and Canada; a curated section on Animated films; a curated section on Artists’ film and video; the 4th edition of Soundfiles; and two seminars.
Organised in collaboration with International Association of Women in Radio &Television, India Chapter; Goethe Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan; UNESCO, New Delhi Office; and with the support of ONGC
Screenings will be held in the Auditorium on 2, 3 and 4 March 2017 from 10:00 onwards. Some of the highlights include films such as Harikatha Prasanga (India) by Ananya Kasaravalli; Soz: A Ballad of Maladies (India) by Tushar Madhav & Sarvnik Kaur; Here the Seats are Vacant (Iran) by Shiva Sanjari; Velvet Revolution (India) by Nupur Basu; Baglar (Turkey) by Berke Bas & Melis Birder; League of Exotique Dancers (Canada) by Rama Rau; Untitled (Pakistan) by Yaminay Chaudhuri; Demos (Thailand) by Danaya Chulphuthiphong; Fricht Grutzhic Nhadjim (Palestine) by Ruba Salameh; Mao Shan Wang (Singapore) by Khym Fong; and Slider (japan) by Maki Satake; among others
