Prof. Alagh looks back at the last half century: the big achievements – food self- reliance by 1978, sustainable agro climatic strategies and fast growth in the Eighties. Tracing the tribulations of the Washington Consensus since the Nineties, he sees the Terms of Trade moving against Agriculture, then stabilizing and more recently moving against agriculture as the backdrop to the agitation against the Farm Laws.
