BIOGRAPHY

Raised in a very musical family, the carioca Antonio Guerra’s musical trajectory is divided between classical and popular. His compositions express spontaneity through the improvisation and elaboration contained in his arrangements. Antonio started composing with Grupo Zanzibar, in 2010. In that same year, he performed as a pianist and actor in the movie “As Mãos de Meu Filho”, by Record TV Network, playing Chopin, Bach and Beethoven. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Musical Arrangement from Unirio, he was awarded a scholarship to study at Örebro Universitet, in Sweden, where he developed the art of improvising and composing, in 2011.

Since 2012, as part of the Bondesom group, he played in Rio de Janeiro’s main jazz festivals, like CopaFest and Leblon Jazz Festival. Between 2012 and 2014, he went on tour with the singer Mart’nália, for the album “Não Tente Compreender”, holding concerts in Brazil and around the world. In 2014, he participated in the recording of Bondesom’s third album “Três”, as pianist and composer. That same year, he recorded and released Ana Costa’s DVD, “Pelas Cores do Som”. He has also been on tour with the veteran Brazilian diva Elza Soares, appointed ‘Singer of the Millennium’ by London’s BBC, performing as a pianist in the concerts "Elza canta Lupcínio" and "Elza e Mitch Winehouse".

In 2015, the artist released his first solo album, "Movimentos", with 10 original compositions of brand new instrumental music. For this work, the artist won the 2015 MIMO INSTRUMENTAL Award, the main initiative that showcases new talent in Brazilian instrumental music. In 2016, he performed with the legendary samba artist Martinho da Vila, releasing the album "De Bem Com A Vida". In the same year, he presented his album at the traditional "Savassi Festival" in Belo Horizonte, was invited to the "Dia da Música" (the Brazilian version of the ‘Fête de la Musique’) in Rio de Janeiro and had the honor to perform the international debut of "Movimentos" at the Brazilian Embassy in London.
