The 12th edition of the festival will showcase the work of women filmmakers of Asian origin bringing a rich and diverse collection of films from 13 countries including Bangladesh, India, Israel, Myanmar, Philippines, Portugal, South Korea, Syria, Taiwan, Turkey, U.K., USA and Vietnam. The festival includes a selection of 47 films and sound works; a seminar and an exhibition 

 

Screenings will be held in the Auditorium on 3, 4 and 5 March 2016 from 09:30 onwards. Some of the highlights include A Felicitation of Dr. Vijaya Mulay by Dr. Kapila Vatsyayan, Chairperson, IIC International Research Division 

 

Screening of much acclaimed films such as Tazreen (Bangaldesh) by Yasmine Kabir; Song of the Horned Owl (India) by Manju Borah; Haunted (Syria) by Liwaa Yazji; The Barber (Myanmar) by Anna Biak Tha Mawi; So Close, So Far, The Ancestral Forest (Vietnam) by Doan Hong Le; Daughters of Cordillera (Philippines) by Ilang-Ilang Quijano; and Hey Neighbour! (Turkey) by Bingol Elmas; among others. 

 

Screenings will be followed by discussions with directors present

 

Documenting the Women’s Movement on Film 

The seminar will examine the influence of the feminist movement on films made in the 80s and 90s and showcase some films in their original lengths and extracts of others; and panel discussions with activists, filmmakers and creative practitioners
