S.G. Vasudev will speak on Inner Resonance

Born in Mysore (Karnataka) in 1941, S.G. Vasudev studies at the Government College of Arts, Madras. While still a student, he won the National Award from the All India Lalit Kala Akademi in 1967. He has also received awards from the State Academies of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, besides the prestigious Rajyotsava Award, Venkatappa Award and Paniker Puraskaram.

Vasudev is a founder-member of the Cholamandal Artists’ Village on the outskirts of Chennai, where he lived and worked till 1988. Vasudev has held solo exhibitions and has participated in several important group exhibitions in India and abroad. Some of the important series of works he has created over the years are Maithuna (Act of Love), Vriksha (Tree of Life), which transformed into Humanscapes and Earthscapes, and a series on the renowned poet A K Ramanujan’s poetry.

Inner Resonance - Return to Sama, his retrospective exhibition was held at the National Gallery of Modern Art, Bangalore and Mumbai, and at the Lalit Kala Akademi, Chennai, in 2018-2019.

Vasudev is the founder and managing trustee of Arnawaz Vasudev Charities, a non-profit organisation providing financial assistance to young artists and art-related initiatives since 1989. He has helped in establishing the Visual Art Department at Bangalore University, the National Gallery of Modern Art Bangalore, Ananya Drishya and Art Park. He lives and works in Bangalore.
