R.G. Singh, Secretary, Ramsons Kala Prtishthan will speak on Magnificent Mysore Paintings

The illustrated talk will briefly introduce the Mysore school of painting patronised by the King of Mysore, H.H. Krishnaraja Wadiyar III (Mummadi) and his successors H.H. Chamaraja Wadiyar X and H.H. Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV. The subjects, colours and compositions will be discussed. The royal atelier at the Mysore palace and the celebrated artists will also be highlighted. Few specimens from Ramsingh Museum and some fine paintings from private collections across the country have been included in the talk. The Rama Mandira tradition of Mysore and a few extraordinary portraits will also be discussed.

 

R.G. Singh, Secretary, Ramsons Kala Pratishtana, Mysore, an art trust. He has been collecting Mysore paintings since 1987 and has been instrumental in patronising the revival of this style. He has lectured extensively on art and heritage, written several monographs and organised exhibitions.
