A mehfil with Vidushi Jayashree Patnekar (Khayal)

Jayashree R. Patnekar was initiated into Hindustani music by Shri Vithalrao Pai. When she was 16, she began learning under Pandit K. D. Javkar of the Kirana gharana. However, it was under Pandit Gajananrao Joshi that she truly matured as a vocalist, receiving an eclectic mix of inputs from Gwalior, Jaipur-Atrauli and Agra gharanas. She also received ta'lim from Pandit Nivruttibua Sarnaik and Pandit Ratnakar Pai of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana. For this special mehfil, Jayashree Tai will present prakar-s of Kalyan, Nat and Kanhra in keeping with the unique repertoire she has inherited and made her own
