Shrikant was born into a family whose tradition is steeped in music. His father, Pandit D. K. Jangam, was a student of Pandit Vinayakrao Patwardhan who had, in turn, received ta'lim from Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar. Thus, while Shrikant's musical perspective is firmly rooted in the rich tradition of Gwalior gharana, he is also influenced by the gayaki of Ustad Amir Khan and Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. For this special mehfil, Shrikant will present a selection of makhsoos ragas of the Gwalior gharana with an emphasis on an eclectic selection of bandishes featuring those of his father as well
