Traditionally, adventure is viewed as an outdoor activity involving intense physical exercise and risk taking behavior. However, in recent times, the research has demonstrated the beneficial effects of adventure through positive outcomes in effectively improving self - concept and self – esteem, increased mutual aid, pro-social behavior, trust behavior and more. Adventure has in recent times been linked with mental health. Outdoor experiences have been used to promote growth, development, and enhancement of an individual’s physical, social and psychological well – being. More recently, adventure therapy has evolved to include the use of adventure activities supported by traditional therapy
