Natya Sangeet – Music of Maharashtra (Marathi Sangeet)
Natya Sangeet is a form of music developed in Maharashtra for theatre (drama, natak) in the 19th century. The drama form is Sangeet Natak where performing arts, music and drama come together. Over time, the music performed for drama became so popular that a separate genre evolved and independent music concerts called Natya Sangeet were held. This form is largely based on ragas using specific medium tempo talas with the lyrics in Marathi language
