Verdi and the Father Complex

An illustrated lecture by Prof Jayati Ghosh, Professor of Economics at JNU and a lover of western classical music 

 

A running thread in much of the work of the Italian composer Guiseppe Verdi is the complex relationship between father and child. The lecture will explore on how that complexity is expressed musically in some of his most famous operas, like La Traviata, Rigoletto and Don Carlo
