Prof. Kerkar will speak about her experiences during two Arctic Expeditions in 2009 and in 2019 as part of the Indian Arctic Expeditions. The challenges of working in Ny-Alesund in Norway at the Indian Station; the coal mines in Kongsfjorden, a habitable inlet among the glaciers in the Arctic; the flora and fauna, and the tribes that thrive in extreme conditions in the poles; and how mankind is so dependent on the marine ecosystem without realising its significance.

Second seminar in the series exploring the mind. This seminar couples the understanding of the mind as detailed by scientific study, with the understanding pf the mind as elaborated in the Buddhist philosophical traditions. The first day’s session explores the function of the mind as explained by the prominent Buddhist logician Dignāga. The second day’s session will have diverse scientists addressing the topic from their disciplinary perspectives.
