Bharat Ki Soch, a think tank committed to researching and revitalizing the insights of Indian wisdom and applying them to contemporary policy challenges and governance frameworks, is desirous of supporting research in the following thematic areas:

 

1.    Governance

2.    National Security

3.    Economy, Commerce and Finance

4.    Environment and Sustainability

5.    Agriculture and Food Security

6.    Health Nutrition and Wellbeing

Junior Research Fellow (JRF)


Location: New Delhi, India 
Responsibilities: Research, Publication and Outreach on any two of the above-mentioned areas

 

The Fellow is expected to explore the above-mentioned thematic areas by consulting ancient Indian texts, and outlining how the insights from early times might be relevant to contemporary policy and practice.

Tasks

1.    Carrying out in depth research on Governance/ National Security/ Economy, Commerce and Finance/Environment and Sustainability/ Agriculture and Food Security/Health Nutrition and Wellbeing of ancient times of India

2.    Identify texts that address the above themes

3.    Synthesise existing studies on these to produce literature review

4.    Select and introduce passages for sourcebooks

5.    Engage in conversation with experts on these areas, at events or for newsletters/blogs

6.    Convene masterclasses and workshops with experts on the areas selected

7.    Write articles on the above themes

8.    Organize exhibitions, conferences, lectures for public outreach

9.    Overviews (15,000 words) of studies on the areas identified

10.Anthologies with excerpts from texts organised thematically

11.Translations of unpublished works/chapters from works

12.Organise conferences, round tables, workshops, exhibitions

 

Commitment: Full-time, on all official working days

 

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

1.    PhD Degree in Ancient Indian History

2.    Knowledge of Ancient scriptures is a must

3.    Excellent written and spoken skills in English, Hindi

4.    Upto three years of relevant work experience

 

Desirable

1.    Competence in reading premodern sources in at least one South Asian language (Sanskrit, Prakrit, Farsi, Tamil…)

2.    Experience of university teaching/academic editing/exhibition curation/organising public lectures

3.    Ability to initiate and drive projects
