Upheavals in Saudi Arabia: Implications for the Desert Kingdom and West Asian Security
Speaker: Ambassador Talmiz Ahmed, former Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Oman and the UAE
Chair: Ambassador K.P. Fabian
The two-year reign of King Salman bin Abdulaziz in Saudi Arabia has over-turned many of the well-established principles on the basis of which the kingdom has functioned for the last several decades, which have imparted both continuity and resilience to the Saudi political order. Now, the king has placed full powers, political, economic and military, in the hands of his young son, 32-year old Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who has also become the crown prince after ousting two senior family members. However, the purge of senior royals and their detention, along with scores of senior officials and business persons, on 3 November, is extraordinary by any yardstick, and portends grave domestic and regional uncertainty in coming months

My House is a Le Corbusier
An illustrated talk by Mr. Cristian Chironi, an artist from Italy
Chair: Mr. Andrea Baldi, Director, Italian Embassy Cultural Centre
Following a series of residences and encounters in structures by Le Corbusier in Italy, France and Argentina, Cristian Chironi with My House is a Le Corbusier, took up temporary residence at the Pierre Jeanneret House Museum in Chandigarh. My house is a Le Corbusier (begun in 2015), is intended to evolve over the long term and culminate in the totality of all the experiences that Chironi will undergo while actually living for variable periods of time in the many homes designed by Le Corbusier around the world. The long-term project (which will unfold over the potential arc of 30 habitable homes by Corbusier in 12 countries) is a performance, stretched out over time, house after house

The book is the first attempt to systematically list the monuments of the city of Delhi. Apart from public buildings like mosques, temples, shrines and tombs, it lists wells, gardens, houses, shops and stray graves. This was in itself a formidable task, and one that might easily have resulted in a very dry and tedious document. The author, however, considerably enlivens it by a description of the various localities of the city, of the people who lived and worked there in his time, social activities and fairs, and historical anecdotes connected with places and people
