Heart Disease Awareness and screening
A special session will be organized to assess the cardiac status of members and staff of the Centre for prevention of heart attacks in times to come

From 1 pm to 3 pm in Seminar Room I

Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Technique
A demonstration of Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) technique to members and staff of the Centre. 

Participants will be given the opportunity to get a hands-on session of learning the technique of CPR as well as using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), a medical device designed to analyze heart rhythm and deliver an electric shock to victims of ventricular fibrillation to restore the heart rhythm to normal

From 4 pm to 5 pm in the Multipurpose Hall

Recognizing and Preventing Heart Attacks: Do’s and Don’ts

Heart attacks have been a major health concern in our country for many years. Its importance appear even more amplified in the current Covid 19 pandemic, with many young and healthy individuals succumbing to this illness even as they recuperated from seemingly uneventful Covid 19 infections. It is therefore pertinent to recognize important warning signs of this illness and take adequate steps to prevent such premature heart events. The talk will also highlight several personal and lifestyle measure to promote cardiovascular health.

Preventing Diabetes and its Complications – How can we meet this challenge?

Illustrated lecture by Dr. S.V. Madhu, Director-Professor and Head, Dept. of Endocrinology, Head, Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism, University College of Medical Sciences and GTB Hospital, Delhi

India has the second largest number of cases of diabetes mellitus in the world today, affecting over 80 million people. An equal number also have prediabetes who are at a significantly higher risk of diabetes. This alarming rise in the prevalence of diabetes and its associated complications such as kidney disease, heart attacks and strokes cause a major strain on the individual, society, the health system and the economy of our country. Attention needs to be focused on prevention of this silent killer and public awareness can go a long way in meeting this challenge effectively.

Common Eye Problems  – Understanding the Symptoms, Management and Prevention

Various eye-problems affect people, including cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, age-related mascular degeneration and corneal opacities. They impair the visual acuity as well as adversely affect the quality of life in advanced stages. Knowledge regarding these disorders may help in primary prevention of diseases, help to halt the progression of some diseases and allow a timely intervention and restoration of vision of curable disorders. It is essential to educate the general public regarding the warning signs and symptoms of these common eye diseases, so they may know when to contact an ophthalmologist. In addition, the talk will shed light on various misconceptions surrounding the treatment modalities; and on eye donation.

The Covid-19 pandemic has hit the life of everyone in inconceivable ways. The impact has been harder on senior citizens. To control the Covid-19 spread, Government of India has initiated a nation-wide vaccination programme since January 2021.

The new guidelines of this programme provide for vaccination of 45+ age group. To create awareness and facilitate registration for Covid-19 vaccination, IIC is organising a Camp for IIC Members of 45+ age group under the guidance of Prof. Naresh Gupta.

As part of the Camp, Members have the option of attending a Q&A session on 1 April 2021 from 4.00 pm to 5.00 pm in person at the Multipurpose Hall, Kamaladevi Block, IIC or via a special IIC Webinar.

For the purpose of registration for the Covid-19 vaccination, Members are requested to bring with them one of the following IDs: Aadhaar Card/Electoral Photo Identity Card/Passport/Driving License/Pan Card along with their mobile.
