We are pleased to inform the Members that from the Gardens of IIC, we have made special arrangements for the sale of seasonal flower saplings.  Our garden staff have carefully nurtured them.  The list of the flowers, whose saplings are for sale, is at the Annexure (list mentioned below).

For procuring the saplings, Members may visit the Centre’s Gandhi King Plaza on any week day (Monday to Saturday) between  14.30 hrs – 17.30 hrs.  Members can select their choice of saplings and take a slip from Head Gardner (Shri Gopal) and make the payment at the Hostel Reception.  Payment can be made through their IIC Smart Card/ Credit/ Debit Card/ Cash.  After showing the payment receipt, Members may collect their selected saplings from the Head Gardner at Gandhi King Plaza.

Members are informed that since the saplings are limited in quantity, the sale will be on first come first serve basis.

The series of discussions will focus on major issues, developments and with an aim to look ahead. The series has been conceptualised by Cmdre C. Uday Bhaskar.

Current Developments in Afghanistan: Relevance for India 
Led by Shri Shyam Saran, Life Trustee, IIC and former Foreign Secretary; Ms Suhasini Haider, Diplomatic Editor, The Hindu; and Amb. Amar Sinha, former Ambassador to Afghanistan

The discussion will be chaired by Cmdre. C. Uday Bhaskar

As the programme will be held in physical mode, Covid protocols will be strictly adhered to with 50% seating capacity. Wearing of face masks is mandatory and will be strictly enforced. Entry will not be permitted to anyone not wearing a mask. Audiences are requested to arrive at the venues, at least 30 minutes prior to the programmes in order to facilitate the screening process at the door. There will be separate doors earmarked for Entry and Exit.

This is to inform the members that the Main Lounge will undergo renovation from 15th to 19th (5 days) of this month. Alternate lounge sitting arrangements have been made for the members at the Main Lawn and Open Verandah. Lounge services would be provided to the members at these places during the renovation period. In addition, lounge services will also be available at the Lotus Lounge & Annexe Lounge. The timings are as follows:

Geet-prakars: Genre in Gwalior Gharana of Hindustani Classical Music
Gwalior Gharana of Hindustani classical music is considered the father of all other gharanas belonging to khayal genre. In addition to khayal compositions, there are many other types of compositions that were developed and are practiced by the Gwalior musicians today. This illustrated lecture will demonstrate how styles such as khayalnuma, tappa, tap-khayal, trivet, Chatrang, Rag-sagar, and Swar-sagar have evolved from this salient gharana.

The illustrated lecture will be presented by Shashwati Mandal, senior vocalist who has trained under Pt. Balasaheb Poonchhwale, Smt Purnima Chaudhuri, Gundecha Brothers and Pt. Madhup Mudgal
