Samayara Chhaire or In the shadow of time is a feature length documentary film that explores the journey of Ravana Chhaya, the shadow puppetry form practiced in Odisha. It is popular for its interplay of translucent and dark shadows and the use of lyrical Odiya poetic rendition of Ramayana. The film puts forward an persuasive voice of the present day puppeteers reflecting upon the changes the tradition has undergone in the last over 40 years in the name of keeping it alive
