Programme Type
Talks
Speaker: Shri Kapil Mandawewala, Founder and CEO, Sajeev Fresh

Is there a need to grow one’s own food? Is it even possible? Earlier this year the Delhi High Court declared the city’s fruit and vegetables unfit for humans. Delhi’s citizens are consuming pesticides every day – this is common knowledge. What are our alternatives? Expensive ‘organic’ produce? Not necessarily. A number of Delhiites have begun getting their hands dirty and growing food on terraces, balconies and what used to be lawns. From supplementing the salad bowl to cutting vegetable costs by half, homegrown produce is making its way onto people’s dinner plates. This talk will discuss the methods used in urban farming and the successes and failures of Delhiites who have taken their first steps towards connecting with their food
