Preventing Diabetes and its Complications – How can we meet this challenge?

India has the second largest number of cases of diabetes mellitus in the world today, affecting over 80 million people. An equal number also have prediabetes who are at a significantly higher risk of diabetes. This alarming rise in the prevalence of diabetes and its associated complications such as kidney disease, heart attacks and strokes cause a major strain on the individual, society, the health system and the economy of our country. Attention needs to be focused on prevention of this silent killer and public awareness can go a long way in meeting this challenge effectively.

Second lecture in a new monthly series of medical presentations on early signs, prevention and management of diseases/conditions in common medical perspectives by eminent medical consultants. Conceptualised by Dr. Ashwani Kumar.

  • Physical programmes will be held as per the Covid -19 guidelines with 50% seating capacity in the hall for cultural programmes
  • Wearing of face masks is mandatory and will be strictly enforced. Entry will not be permitted to anyone not wearing a mask
  • Audiences are requested to arrive at the venues, at least 30 minutes prior to the programmes in order to facilitate the screening process at the Door
  • There will be separate doors earmarked for Entry and Exit
