This talk discusses the intertwined complexities between Tibetan and Western medicine. Ethnographic research on clinical encounters, pharmaceutical production and consumption of Tibetan medicine reveals the intricate and diverse relationships between medicine, science and religion in different settings. The lecture addresses a number of questions about what Tibetan medicine entails, how it differs from ritual healing while engaging ritual  practices, and how knowledge and  efficacy are validated and translated between Tibetan and Western medical notions and practices
