An illustrated presentation by Madhumita Ray
A presentation of noted classical compositions created by the Sufi saint known primarily as the father of Kheyal and Qawwali, Hazrat Amir Khusrau. This lecture based on rare ragas will demonstrate his works based on some recordings by eminent artists.
Madhumita Ray is an eminent Hindustani Classical (Khayal) and semi classical (Thumri-Dadra) vocalist performing and teaching nationally and internationally for over 30 years.
Beyond Grace: A journey of Dance,Peace, Voice and Womanhood
A unique performance and reflective talk that explores the profound connections between art, peace, and womanhood. Through her innovative choreographies, music, and narratives, she traces her journey as a dancer while honouring the artistic legacy of her mother, and Guru Bharati Shivaji.
Vijayalakshmi is an internationally acclaimed exponent of Mohiniyattam. Daughter and disciple of Bharati Shivaji. A recipient of several prestigious awards, including from the Kerala Sangeet Natak Academy and the Regents Lecturer from UCLA. She has performed in India and the world, sponsored by The Government of India, including the Bolshoi Theatre, the Edinburgh International Festival and the Lincoln Centre. Her prominent productions include Unniarcha, inspired from Kalaripayattu; Swan Lake, etc.

An exhibition celebrating the legacy of twelfth-century Buddhist philosopher Atīśa Dīpaṃkara, through relics from Dzongkar Choede Monastery, Karnataka; photographs tracing his journeys curated by Prof. Shashibala, Dean, K.M. Munshi Centre for Indology, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan; and manuscripts of his works from the Dharmarajika Bouddha Kristi Prachar Sangha, Bangladesh.

Guru Conference: Atiśa Dīpaṃkara Śrījñāna
This conference on the Buddhist philosopher Atīśa Dīpaṃkara will explore his roles as scholar, reformer and spiritual leader. Born in present-day Bangladesh c. 982, Atīśa travelled to Southeast Asia to study from Guru Serlingpa/Dharmakirti. As Abbot of Vikramshila, he was invited to Tibet to teach Buddhadharma. Practitioners and academics will speak of Atīśa’s life, and of how he contributed to our understanding of mindfulness and the guru-shishya relationship
