IIC - future functions after 17th May 2020

Dear Members,
 
 
1.       The continuing Lockdown, imposed by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Govt. of India on 24th March 2020 shall be completed on 17th May 2020.  Accordingly, we had intimated Members, vide our mail dated 9th May 2020, of the closure of all facilities at the Centre up to 17th May 2020.
 
2.       Assuming that the Lockdown shall not be extended further and cultural institutions like the IIC shall be allowed to re-open, we propose to make the Main Centre functional from Wednesday 20th May 2020.  In this regard, Members may wish to note that besides any conditions which may be enforced by the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) / MHA we have planned future functions as given below:
 
General
 
3.       For one and all entry to the Main Centre will be through Gate Nos. 2 & 3.   All Members / visitors will have to mandatorily go through thermal screening and any one with body temperature above (37.3oC / 99.14oF) shall not be allowed entry.  Other requirements will include:
 
(i)           Wearing of face cover (mask) is compulsory for any person visiting the Centre.  Disposable masks would be available, on payment, at the Reception.  Members may dispose of their masks in the designated bins placed in the Centre’s premises. 
 
(ii)          Members residing in the Containment Zones are requested not to visit the Centre.  
 
(iii)        Members are required to use hand sanitizers (placed at various locations) after entering the Centre.
(iv)        Members visiting the Centre are advised to download Aarogya Setu Application on their mobiles.
 
Library
 
4.1     Subject to the MHA/GNCTD Regulations regarding the maximum number of persons who may gather in a given premises, we propose to re-open the Library (maintaining the distancing norms).   Members are advised to intimate the date / time of their visit to the Library and book a place in advance by calling at Tele No: (011) - 24619431.    Only Members who have a confirmed booking will enter the Library. 
 
4.2     The Library will remain open from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm from Monday to Saturday, except on a notified holiday. 
 
4.3     Upto 4 Members only will be allowed in the Periodicals / Newspapers section, @ one on each sofa.  In the main reading room only six reading tables will be functional, @ 2 persons per table; a maximum of 12 Members will be allowed.  Only 6 Researchers Tables will be functional, @ 2 persons per table; 12 Members will be allowed to use this facility at a time.  Only 2 Members will be allowed to use the Internet Kiosk at a time.
 
4.4     The total number of Members in the Library, at any given time, shall not exceed 30 (as per above stated seating plan).  However, this shall be subject to MHA/GNCTD Regulations.
 
4.5     Members can return the borrowed books to the designated Library staff at the designated place.  The returned books shall be sanitized and quarantined before they are placed back on the related shelf.  Social distancing norms shall be strictly adhered to inside the Library premises.
 
 
 
Dining Hall / Lounges / Bar
 
5.1     Subject to MHA/GNCTD Regulations, the Dining Hall, Main Lounge, Bar and Lotus Lounge will function as per their normal prescribed timings.  Keeping in view the social distancing norms, seating inside these venues shall be re-arranged.
 
5.2     The staff on duty will be screened for their health conditions/hygiene before arriving on duty and will mandatorily wear face-mask, head cover, and hand gloves while on duty.
 
5.3     The preparation of food in the kitchen will be personally supervised by the Executive Chef to effectively ensure hygiene and sanitation.  The kitchen staff on duty will be thoroughly checked for health / hygiene before being put on duty.
 
5.4    Till the situation normalises and all staff are back on duty, only limited menu would be offered at the catering venues.
 
Take Away and Bakery
 
6.1     Members can call the Centre [at Tel. No. (011) 2461 9431] and place their orders for take-away food items.  This should be done a day in advance.  The ordered food and the Bill would be ready for pick-up at the especially designated counter (in the Main Verandah) on the delivery day.  In case the ordered food is not collected, the full bill for the same shall be debited to the Member’s account. 
 
6.2     The Bakery outlet, with limited items, would be functional from 20th May 2020, from 1100 to 1700 hrs.
 
Hostel
 
7.1     Subject to the MHA/GNCTD Regulations, we plan to open bookings for the Hostel Rooms from Monday 18th May, so that rooms can be actually occupied from 20th May 2020 onwards.   Before Guests enter the Hostel, they will be thermal-screened for body-temperature and also enabled to sanitize their hands (for which facilities would be available at the Reception).
 
7.2     Guests shall be required to inform the Reception about   their travel history since 1st March 2020, and current medical condition.   They shall also make a self-declaration (in the prescribed form available at the Reception) that they are Corona free and have not come from any Containment Zone.
 
7.3     Hostel Rooms shall be thoroughly sanitized before allowing in Guests.  Arrangements are also in place to ensure that room accessories are not touched with naked hands by the Hostel Staff. 
 
7.3     Guests are requested to have their meals only in the Dining Hall.
 
7.4     Guests would be separately briefed about the Do’s and Don’ts regarding their stay in the Hostel.
 
Programmes
 
8.1     Arrangements have been made to conduct relay-programmes through web platforms, like Zoom and Webex.  The details of such programmes are available on the IIC Website and Members can view them as per their convenience.  In the case of live programmes, Members would be informed in advance through e-mails.
 
8.2     A limited number of live programmes have been planned in the Auditorium and Multipurpose Hall.  Schedules of such programmes can be viewed on the IIC Website under the ‘Programme’ sub-heading.
 
8.3     Subject to the MHA / GNCTD Regulations regarding the maximum number of persons who may gather at a given venue, and keeping the social distancing norm in view, the number of seats has been restricted in all the programme venues.  Efforts would also be made to web cast some of these programmes for the benefits of Members who are unable to visit the Centre.
 
Publication
 
9.   A soft copy of the IIC Quarterly (Spring-Summer Issue) is expected to be ready by the third week of May.  It shall be sent to all Members through email.  The printed version would be available by end June and shall be sent to Members by post.

Note: The aforesaid arrangements are subject to any further directions issued by GoI / GNCTD
