Bharat Ki Soch – Foundation, a think tank promoted by ITC, is committed to protecting national heritage, art & culture, revitalizing the insights of Indian wisdom and applying them to contemporary policy challenges and governance frameworks, is desirous of supporting research in the following areas:

Senior Research Fellow (SRF)

 

Location: New Delhi, India

Responsibilities: Research, Publication and Outreach on any two of the following themes: 

Governance/Economy & Commerce/Health, Nutrition and Wellbeing/Agriculture and Food Security/

Environment and Sustainability/National Security 

The Fellow is expected to explore the areas above by consulting texts representative of the diversity of South Asian knowledge traditions, and outlining how the insights from early times might be relevant to contemporary policy and practice.

Tasks

  • Identify texts that address the themes above 

  • Synthesise existing studies on these to produce a literature review

  • Select and introduce passages for sourcebooks

  • Engage in conversation with experts on these areas, at events or for newsletters/blogs

  • Convene masterclasses and workshops with experts on the areas selected

  • Organize exhibitions, conferences, lectures for public outreach 

Outputs 

  • Overviews (15,000 words) of studies on the areas identified

  • Anthologies with excerpts from texts organised thematically 

  • Translations of unpublished works/chapters from works

  • Conferences, round tables, workshops, exhibitions

Commitment: Full-time, on all official working days 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Essential

    • PhD Degree in History/Political Science/International Relations/Public Policy/Economics/ Development Studies/Environment/Agriculture

    • Competence in reading premodern sources in at least one South Asian language (Sanskrit, Prakrit, Farsi, Tamil…)

    • Excellent written and spoken skills in English or Hindi

    • Three to five years’ work experience 

  • Desirable

    • Experience of university teaching/academic editing/exhibition curation/organising public lectures 

    • Ability to initiate and drive projects

  • Remuneration

  • Commensurate with the industry norms.

Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
 

Location: New Delhi, India

Responsibilities: Research, Publication and Outreach on any two of the following themes: Governance/Economy & Commerce/Health, Nutrition and Wellbeing/Agriculture and Food Security/

Environment and Sustainability/National Security 

The Fellow is expected to explore the areas above by consulting texts representative of the diversity of South Asian knowledge traditions, and outlining how the insights from early times might be relevant to contemporary policy and practice.

Tasks

  • Create databases of studies on the areas above, of scholars working on these, and of potential institutional collaborators

  • Draft translations into Hindi and English for sourcebooks on the areas above

  • Contribute to selecting content for exhibitions and drafting interpretive material

  • Design social media posts and foster online communities

Outputs 

  • Overviews (15,000 words) of studies on the areas identified

  • Anthologies with excerpts from texts organised thematically 

  • Translations of unpublished works/chapters from works

  • Conferences, round tables, workshops, exhibitions

Commitment: Full-time, on all official working days
