PAN ASIAN CUISINE

PAN ASIAN CUISINE
Start Date
04 February 2021, 12:00 am

From the bold aromatic flavours of Thai curries to the delicate fresh taste of sushi, Asian foods are popular around the world. Incorporating a healthy balance of colour and texture,   with a strong emphasis on vegetables of various kinds, seemingly exotic ingredients are turned into dishes simple and flavourful.  Traditionally, ingredients such as coconut milk and coconut oil are used as a substitute for dairy products, and herbs such as lemon grass and galanga are used for flavour. With rice, ginger, garlic, sesame seeds, chilies, dried onions are created sweet-sour piquant salads and curries to tempt every palate. IIC has made special arrangements to serve “Pan Asian Cuisine” from 05th February (Friday) to 7th February 2021 (Sunday) (03 days) for its members. In addition our bakery chef will also be presenting special bakery items at the confectionary counter for bakery lovers.

These items shall be served in addition to the regular menu in the Dining Hall and Lounge and also can be booked on prior demand as “Take Away” items.

The United Nations was established in 1945, in the wake of World War II,  " to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, and to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nation." It is necessary to examine to what extent the goals envisaged in 1945 have been realized 75 years later. We also need to figure out the challenges facing humanity in our times and to what extent the world body can meet those challenges.  A key question is what way the U.N. can be reformed and strengthened.

Bonsai: Nature in a Pot (25 min; 2020; English)

The living art of Bonsai is derived from an ancient Chinese horticultural practice, part of which was then redeveloped under the influence of Japanese Zen Buddhism. The word “Bon-sai” (often misspelled as bonzai or banzai) is a Japanese term which, literally translated, means “planted in a container”. What is behind the art of cultivating trees into aesthetically pleasing shapes in containers rather than allowing nature to take its course?  The film explores the essence of the Japanese spirit as reflected in the art of bonsai
